The therapeutic and cosmetic carrot
The carrot is one of the most common plants in antiquity and continues to be still in our century. It was well known quality food and perhaps a little less than therapeutic and cosmetic properties.
The juice of its root is rich in carotene, orange-yellowish color pigment that can be considered pro-vitamin, as once introduced into the body will be turned into animal vitamin.
Beyond this provitamin, the juice is also rich in B vitamins and vitamin C. This explains why the tonic action of carrot juice and effective use in some diseases of the eye. Important to remember that the effectiveness of the juice is constrained by the fact that should be taken raw because heat denatures the properties of the various principles contained in it. In children is taken from 50 to 150 gr. juice obtained by squeezing or centrifuging to drink during the day.
In adults, change the quantity: if they recommend 150 to 300 gr. day. For the treatment of cough and laryngitis: 4 or 5 carrots thoroughly cooked boiling at length, are crushed and then passed through a sieve (such as for flour), everything is mixed with 4 or 5 tablespoons of honey and used to taking spoons during the day. It was useful in obstinate coughs and laryngitis.
As cosmetics: widely used the oily extract of the roots of carrot for the wealth of carotenes exerts an important action in maintaining the integrity of the membrane function of cells and tissues of the skin. It improves the condition of dry and chapped, especially in winter.
Inflammation and skin rashes, even the sun: the raw flesh between two patches, applied on it. To make the skin smooth: 10 gr. dried root in 100 ml. oil (marinated for two days), applied with a light massage.
Finally remember the protective properties, moisturizing and firming due to the action of ultraviolet UV, from which the freeze-dried extract protects us.
